Low Level Lasers are introduced to the afflicted area and speed up the body's natural healing. Tissue naturally contains protein strands called chromophores and cytochromes located in the mitochondria of a cell. These cells have the unique ability to absorb laser light energy and transform it into chemical energy for the cell. This chemical energy is utilized by the tissue to significantly accelerate the healing process and reduce pain in the body naturally.
The laser is targeted to the specific area where pain or inflammation is concentrated and is activated for a period of time. The therapy is painless and totally non-invasive. Treatments can vary in length from seconds to minutes, depending on the condition.
The laser accelerates the three phases of healing by reducing inflammation, increasing fibroblast synthesis and angiogenesis (production of capillaries) which leads to collagen production. Because of this nutrients can be supplied more easily to the cells.
LLLT also has an Anti-inflammatory Action used to combat the inflammation caused by blood and serum rushing into damaged areas. The laser's light reduces swelling caused by bruising and inflammation of the joints to provide enhanced joint mobility.
This laser treatment is an excellent choice for both open wounds such as ulcers, as well as internal inflammatory conditions such as gastric ulcers.
LLLT has been used to treat a wide variety of ailments including: pain relief, neuropathy (numbness, burning, tingling, itching), symptomatic relief of degenerative nerve diseases, spinal cord injuries, sports injuries, arthritis, gout, fractures, ear, nose and throat disorders, bowel cancer, poor circulation, carpal tunnel, tenosynovitis, DeQuervain's syndrome, golfer's elbow, tennis elbow, tendonitis, thoracic outlet syndrome, blackberry thumb, gamer's thumb.
The list seems pretty unbelievable, but it's all because low level lasers stimulate healing on such a basic level. They work with the body, no matter what the problem is.
In addition to accelerated wound healing, the main advantages of LLLT for postoperative sport and auto related injuries include: reduced need for unnecessary prescription drugs significantly accelerated functional recovery, and an earlier return to work.
