Skin peels are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin. Over time, factors such as sun damage, aging and repetitive muscle movement contribute to the formation of lines and wrinkles in the face.
Chemical Peels have been used for decades to revitalize and resurface skin. They involve applying a chemical solution to remove the damaged outer layers of skin and reveal a younger, clearer and more radiant complexion.
After treatment the resulting regenerated skin is smoother and fresher in appearance.
Is It Right for Me?
Chemical peels are suitable for both women and men. Patients of any age can benefit.
Chemical Peels, also known as "Lunchtime Peels" are traditionally performed on the face, hands, neck, back and shoulders, legs and other problem areas to treat fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and skin discoloration. Chemical Peels are also effective in treating mild scarring and acne.
What will happen during the treatment?
Our doctor will determine how many peels are necessary to achieve the desired result. In most cases 6 peels should be enough to achieve the maximum results. We recommend our clients to have up to 4 skin peels to achieve the maximum results, with a 2 to 3 weeks interval between them.
Treatments usually last from 30-60 minutes and are one of the most effective ways to rejuvenate ageing skin and erase the marks of sun damage. Chemical Peels may also soften acne facial scars and even control acne.
During a chemical peel, a chemical solution is applied to the face. You may feel a warming or burning sensation during treatment. Similar to exfoliating your skin, the damaged outer layers of the epidermis will peel away. As part of the healing process, increased cell growth as well as collagen production and reorganization in the dermis will produce new, healthier skin layers, giving the face a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
How quickly will I notice an effect?
You will see instant results immediately after the treatment: improved the skin's texture, tone and noticeable reduction of pores.
Things to Consider
Immediately following your procedure, you may continue to experience some frosting which will fade in approximately thirty minutes, and be replaced by redness and irritation similar to sunburn. It is important to keep the area moist and protected. Therefore, a protective ointment such as petroleum jelly may be applied to your face in the days following your procedure.
You will most likely notice the outer layers of the skin peeling away within several days following treatment. New skin will begin to appear in approximately one to two weeks. Your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure as it heals. Therefore, it is extremely important that you protect your skin from the sun with UVA and UVB protection while you heal.
